This spotlight features Clement Efe Ogoh. Clement is a Nigerian photographer and Creative Director who primarily works in and around West Africa.

He is a largely self-taught artist who believes in taking risks for the sake of his art. He takes great pride in capturing the true spirit and personality of the subjects of his photographs.

Can you share a brief bio?

Clement Efe Ogoh is a Nigerian photographer and Creative Director. He currently lives in Lagos with his wife and other family members. He has a dog named Max.

What time does your alarm go off?

6:00 am.

What do your mornings typically look like?

Exercise, Yoga, taking care of my mini garden and then breakfast.

How did you get on this career path? 

I was inspired by a childhood friend.

Tell us what a typical day looks like?

Looking for inspiration and creating.

Can you share some of your most memorable moments?

Finding out my work was picked for the front cover of an international magazine.

In your opinion, how can the creative industries contribute to social change/social cohesion/improve the Nigerian society?

Create agencies that will protect the interests of creatives, create empowerment projects or programs for upcoming creatives

What do you love most about what you do?

The beauty of creating a masterpiece. I like creating images that invoke strong emotional responses.

What do you not like about what you do?

Clients that do not pay you for your value.

What do you do after work?

Head home to edit or treat myself nice.

And what do you do at the weekends?

Play soccer, explore and relax.

What does the societal change mean to you?

It means a good step in the right direction and progress. The world needs to grow, and for that to happen, we need to heal and believe in new possibilities.

If you were not doing what you are doing now, what career path would you be on?

Professional football or fashion. Growing up, I liked to get creative in the field, and I think I would have eventually channelled that creativity into fashion.
